In a tragic road mishap, three teachers of CKB college, Teok in Eastern Assam’s Jorhat were killed while another colleague was seriously injured after the vehicle they were travelling in collided with an oil tanker near Dergaon on National Highway 37 late Wednesday night.
The four college teachers were returning to Teok after attending the Dibrugarh University Inter-college Youth Festival at Sarupathar College. The deceased teachers have been identified as Dr Ranjit Ranjan Saikia of History department, Keshab Hazarika of Assamese department and Jitumoni Phukan of Political Science department.
One other identified as Narendra Nath Saikia who was seriously injured is stated to be in a critical condition. Saikia a teacher of the Economics department of CKB college is undergoing treatment at Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH).
Meanwhile, a pall of gloom has descended in Golaghat district owing to the tragic road mishap.
