A 20-year-old Rubik’s cube enthusiast solved 6,931 of the puzzles, breaking the Guinness world record for the most rotating puzzle cubes solved in 24 hours. George Scholey broke the record of 5,800 set by Eric Limeback of Canada in 2013 while livestreaming his official attempt from a hotel room in London.

According to the World Cube Association, the puzzler told Guinness World Records that the most difficult part of his attempt – timed to coincide with Guinness World Records Day – was “hitting the 12 hour mark.”

Scholey also expressed disappointment at not being able to solve 7,000 Rubik’s cube puzzles.

For the longest time in his life, Florian Kastenmeier of Bavaria said he couldn’t solve a single Rubik’s cube. However, while moving his house 16 years ago, he discovered one in the attic and became obsessed with solving it.

His collection includes a 1977 Rubik’s cube from the first production line made in Hungary.
