2 Sikkim Residents Arrested In Guwahati With Fake Notes Worth Rs 1.5 Lakh

The Guwahati Police arrested two Sikkim residents at the Interstate Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Guwahati on Saturday with Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) worth Rs 1, 50,000.

Officials identified the nabbed fake note smugglers as Purna Mani Ray (35) of Namphok, and Ram Kumar Khati (51) of Lingmoo, in the South Sikkim district.

As per inputs, an operation was carried out at the ISBT by the Garchuk Police, where the two suspects were caught red handed.

During search operation, police found 300 currency notes of Rs 500 denomination from their possession.
Taking to X, Guwahati Police wrote, A WGPD team from Gorchuk PS busted a FICN racket after 2 persons – Purna Mani Ray (35) & Ram Kumar Khati (51), both from south Sikkim – were arrested following a raid at ISBT. 5 bundles of ₹500 denomination- facevalue of 150,000 – & 2 mobiles were seized. Legal action initiated.”

Necessary legal action has been initiated against the accused, as authorities continue to crack down on the circulation of fake currency, which poses a serious threat to the economy and financial stability of the region.
