PM Narendra Modi has invited both the fish farmers for their remarkable contribution in development of the fisheries sector
The nation is upbeat to celebrate the 77th Independence Day in a grand way as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the country in celebrating the spirit of nationalism from the Red Fort in Delhi tomorrow.
But the most significant aspect if we look from the Northeast perspective is that two fish farmers from violence affected Manipur have been invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to witness the grand celebrations in the national capital.
This is indeed significant since Manipur is still yearning for permanent peace after violence erupted on May 3.
Laimujam Dinamani Singh hailing from Thoubal district and Salam Rohendro Singh from Imphal West district would be celebrating the Independence Day along with their spouses, especially when they have been invited by the Prime Minister.
Reports stated that both, Laimujam and Salam Rohendro have been nominated as PM Narendra Modi’s special guests because of their remarkable contribution for the development of the fisheries sector in the state.
But how have they managed to earn this distinction?
Dinamani has been recognized for being the highest producer of fish apart from the largest producer of Meitei Sareng (locally reared fish breed Wallago Attu). His feat was recognized during the Ningol Chakouba Fish Fair and Fish Crop competition 2022, as well as the Emoinu Fish Festival 2023.
Rohendro too has accomplished a rare feat by becoming the largest fish producer, which was recognized in the Ningol Chakouba Fish Fair held in 2020.
As part of the celebrations, around 1,800 people from different vocations, with their spouses, have been invited as special guests.
