2 arrested for running fake scholarship scheme ‘Chief Minister Medha Chhatra Scholarship’ in Assam’s Hailakandi

In a shocking incident, two fraudsters were arrested in Assam’s Hailakandi for allegedly running a fake student scholarship scheme called the ‘Chief Minister Medha Chhatra Scholarship’. The accused, identified as Kailash Robidas and Sahiduddin, duped students of at least Rs 3000 each for enrolling their names in the scheme.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrived at the house of Ajay Sinha in Palarpar of Kalinagar and arrested the two fraudsters. Police recovered two state-owned bank cheque books along with several objectionable documents from the two fraudsters.
The accused duo is suspected to be part of a larger gang involved in such fraudulent activities. The police are conducting further investigations to identify and apprehend other members of the gang.
