15,000 dhulia and nasoni to perform Bihu on April 14 to set Guinness World Record

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on the occasion of the Republic Day today said that 15,000 dhulias (drummers) and nasoni (dancers) would perform Bihu, the state’s main festival and folk dance, on April 14th to set Guinness World Records and enter the book of records.

“The Assam government has taken the initiative to include Bihu in the Guinness Book of Records with 15,000 to 10,000 dhulias and nasonis performing in Bohag Bihu. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present on the historic day of April 14”, said CM Sarma during his Republic Day address in Khanapara today.

April 14-15 marks the beginning of the Assamese New Year and from April 14 Rongali or Bohag Bihu celebrations begin. Rongali or Bohag Bihu is one of the most important festivals of the people of Assam.
