The rescued youths, all employees of a power company working in Arunachal, had remained trapped in the flood-hit area for several days.
In a successful operation, the Indian Air Force on Saturday rescued 14 youths from Assam who had been stranded in Ziro, Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh, following a series of devastating flash floods and landslides in the region.
The rescued youths, all employees of a power company working in Arunachal, had remained trapped in the flood-hit area for several days. Despite earlier rescue attempts by the Arunachal Pradesh government with the help of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the operation could not succeed due to the difficult terrain and weather conditions. Authorities then sought the assistance of the Indian Air Force, which finally airlifted the stranded workers to safety.
Meanwhile, in a tragic incident on late Friday night, a vehicle carrying two families was swept away by a landslide on the Bana–Seppa road in East Kameng district. The landslide claimed seven lives, including a pregnant woman and children.
In another fatal incident, a landslide hit the Cabbage Garden area near Pine Grove in Ziro. Two restaurant workers from Lakhimpur, Assam, lost their lives. Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and local volunteers recovered their bodies after a challenging search operation.
