A 12-year-old boy has been killed in a grenade blast in eastern Assam’s Tinsukia district.

The victim, identified as Sujoy Hajong, was riding a bicycle when he found a grenade lying on the road at Kotha Sema village under Jagun police station area of the district.

As per reports, the minor picked up the grenade from the roadside, after which it exploded.

The victim was immediately rushed to Margherita Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

According to the locals, an encounter had taken place in the village a couple of years ago between security forces and militants at the same location and the grenade might have been left behind during that time.
