Chief Minister Conrad Sangma reiterated that while some areas are easier to resolve, others remain more complicated.
Chief Minister Khandu has directed the regional committees set up to resolve the border dispute with Assam to work closely.
CM Conrad Sangma said that successive governments have always maintained the status quo on the inter-state boundary issues
CM Sarma said that when it came to resolving border issues, Assam has to play the role of an elder brother.
The decades-old Nagaland and Assam border dispute cases have been pending in the Supreme Court for several years.
Allegations are that Assam has constructed a 1.23 km road well within the territory of Meghalaya in the Ri Bhoi district
“This is a gesture by our government to ensure that both the governments are able to bring in neutrality,” CM Conrad Sangma said.
Both the governments are working in close co-ordination on confidence building measures so that the matter can be pursued further
Assam CM Sarma said that now regional committees will visit the disputed sites, based on which they will submit their reports to their respective Chief Ministers
Since things are very complicated, the solution may take a long time, said CM Sangma
