Will it be a Gold or a Silver for Assam daughter and ace pugilist Lovlina Borgohain? All eyes are set on the final match of the 75-kg category of the Women’s World Boxing Championship to be played this evening.

Earlier, Lovlina showcased exemplary boxing skills and tactics to defeat top seed, 2-time Olympic medallist and former World Champion Li Quan of China by an impressive 4-1 split decision to reach the final stage.

Lovlina will be playing her gold medal match against Australian Caitlin Parker.

Lovlina, who received a bye in the opening round, eased to a majority decision win over Tokyo Olympics silver medallist and 2018 World Champion Li Qian of China to reach the final. In the earlier rounds, Lovlina, earned decision win over Citlalli Ortiz of Mexico in the round of 16 and followed that with another decision win over Mozambique’s Rady Gramane in the quarterfinal.

This will be both Lovlina and Parker’s first attempt at World Championship gold.

Meanwhile, Lovlina’s father Tiken Borgohain reacting to the pugilist reaching the final of the Championship said, “Parents always feel when their child excels. We are extremely happy since she entered the finals.
