NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) managed to secure their first and solo win in Game 17 of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 beating FC Goa 2-1 on Saturday. Both the clubs, NEUFC and Goa FC went face to face without any wins and hence were in great need to achieve their first ever victory of the season. With this win NEUFC managed to rise up to the considerable eighth spot, leaving behind FCG at the bottom of the points table. The clubs went headlock with opening attacks in the first half, but in the ninth minute, Rochharzela of NEUFC converted an assist from Mathias Coureur to hand the highlanders the first lead over FCG. Goa replied back with a handful of passes and shots on target and therein Alexander Romario Jesuraj receiving an assist from Alberto Noguera equalised the score, to much relief.
The teams mounted attacks on each other as FCG giving more shots on target than NEUFC until the half time, but as the stalemate continued in the following half, the 92nd minute became a lifesaver for NEUFC. Khassa Camara scored the second goal for NEUFC through an assist from Deshorn Brown, and with this final shot exactly on the target, NEUFC claimed the winner with three points.
