After emerging winners in the three-match series against Australia, hosts Team India are all set to take part in ODI World Cup warm-up matches. India is set to lock horns with defending World champions England in a warm-match at ACA Barsapara stadium today.
In the build-up to the world cup, which begins on October 5, these warm-up matches are considered important as teams get the last minute opportunity to sharpen their skills.
As the warm-up games don’t have an official status, both teams can use as many players as they want and check out how some of the players respond in specific match situations.
Today’s match will provide an opportunity to the spin trio of Kuldeep Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja to test themselves.
It is expected that both teams might be using all its bowlers.
Assam Cricket Association president Taranga Gogoi had earlier said that a full house is expected for today’s match. The match starts at 2 pm.
Meanwhile, fans are excited to watch their favourite cricket stars in action. A huge crowd had gathered at LGBI Airport when the Indian team landed on September 28.
The ODI World Cup 2023 will start on October 5 after the warm-up matches. Rohit Sharma’s men will aim to make full use of the home advantage but there are a few things that the Men in Blue will have to solve ahead of the World Cup.
The tournament also holds significance for Team India as they have not been able to win an ICC trophy since 2013. Before the tournament commences, a total of 10 warm-up matches will be played between September 29 and October 3.
