India defeats Kyrgyz Republic 2-0 to lift Hero Tri-Nation Championship Trophy

Goals for India came from Sandesh Jhingan and Sunil Chhetri, much to the delight of over 29,000 football fans.

India won the 2023 Hero Tri-Nation Football Tournament by defeating a higher-ranked Kyrgyz Republic 2-0.

The main stadium of the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in Imphal, where the high-octane finale match was played, was filled with roaring cheers and thrill as India humbled a country much superior to India in international football rankings.

Goals for India came from Sandesh Jhingan and Sunil Chhetri, much to the delight of over 29,000 football fans.

Manipur CM N. Biren Singh, who is a former national football player himself, expressed joy over India’s win and lauded the efforts and initiative of AIFF in bringing the tournament to the state.
