Congress party workers seem appear to be divided over North Karimganj MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha. Last night several Congress workers put up posters written No Entry Kamalakhya on the main gate of the party office.
Later another group of Congress workers took off those posters from the gates. This group then put up new posters reading Welcome Kamalakhya.
This division among Congress workers over the current working president of Assam comes in after there a scuffle broke out at the Congress office in Karimganj yesterday.
Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha was also reportedly injured in the incident which took place after a heated exchange between General Secretary of Karimganj Congress and other local leaders of the party. Things soon took the turn for a worse after members stated assaulting each other.
