Left parties in the state have demanded the unconditional release of CPI secretary of Manipur state council L Sotin Kumar.
L Sotin Kumar is in police custody since December 20. Even though he was granted a bail by the CJM court Imphal West the next day, he was re-arrested and has been in custody since then.
It may be mentioned that L Sotin Kumar was picked up by Manipur police on the evening of 20th December, while he was returning home from CPI office, for organising a 12-hour-long strike against the Citizenship Amendment Act as well as supporting the nationwide shutdown called by left parties in India.
Meanwhile, the CPI has also demanded immediate withdrawal of cases filed against Sotin Kumar and a few other members of the party, who led the protests.
