Nalchar is one of the 60 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Tripura state. It is in Sipahijala district and is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes. Nalchar is also part of West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency. In 2018, the constituency had total 41,565 electors. The total population in 2023 is etimated to be 7,702.
In 2018, Subhash Chandra Das of the Bharatiya Janata Party won the seat by defeating Tapan Ch. Das of the Communist Party Of India (marxist) with a margin of 451 votes.
In 2013, Tapan Ch. Das of CPIM won the seat with a margin of 8,107 votes.
Although Subhash Chandra Das is the current MLA but he is not contesting 2023 assembly polls.
This election, Tapan Ch. Das of CPIM is contesting against BJP’s Kishore Barman from the Nalchar seat.
