Kamalpur Legislative Assembly constituency is one of the 60 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Tripura. It is part of Dhalai district. Kamalpur is a village in Rajnagar Block, South Tripura district. It is situated 90km away from district headquarter Udaipur. The total geographical area of village is 1222 hectares. BJP candidate Manoj Kanti Deb is the sitting MLA of the constituency. He won the seat for the party in the 2018 Assembly elections with 20,165 votes by defeating Communist Party Of India (marxist) candidate Bijoy Laxmi Singha with a margin of 2959 votes.
The constituency was occupied by Congress from the first election, which was held in 1958 for the Tripura Territorial Council, until the assembly election in 1972. Then after 36 years in 2008, Manoj Kanti Deb of the BJP ousted then-incumbent MLA Bijoy Lakshmi Sinha. In 2013, CPI(M) once again took control of the district after Bijoy Lakshmi Sinha defeated Manoj Kanti Deb. However, in 2018, Deb again re-occupied the constituency defeating Bijoy Lakshmi Sinha.
