In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections,BJP candidate Pratima Bhoumik won from Tripura West Lok Sabha (MP) seat with the margin of 305689 votes by defeating Congress candidate Subal Bhowmik.
Communist Party Of India (marxist) candidate Narayan Chandra Chowdhuri is the sitting MLA of the constituency. Chowdhuri has won the seat for his party several times- in 2013, 2008, 2003, 1998 Assembly elections.
He won the seat for the party in the 2018 Assembly elections with 18,847 votes by defeating BJP candidate Arun Bhowmik with a margin of 1879 votes.
