Baghmara Legislative Assembly constituency is one of the 60 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Meghalaya. It is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. Baghmara is a Town and Block in South Garo Hills district. Total number of villages in this Block is 172. The estimated population of Baghmara in 2023 is 66,814. Situated 287 kms south of Shillong at the Indo-Bangladesh Border, Baghmara is home to a wide range of animals and plants as well as many tiny lakes, rivers, and undulating hills.

BJP candidate Samuel M. Sangma is the sitting MLA of the constituency. He won the seat in the 2018 Assembly constituency as Independent candidate with 8,070 votes by defeating National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Sengnal N. Sangma with a margin of 2242 votes. This time, Samuel M Sangma is contesting the Assembly polls as a BJP candidate.
