Sniawbhalang Dhar, a Cabinet Minister and a strong contender in the upcoming Assembly elections is a two-time MLA from the Nartiang constituency. In 2013, he won from the Nartiang constituency on a Congress ticket, and in 2018, he was able to retain his seat as a candidate for the NPP after joining the party in 2017. He secured 49.16 per cent of the votes in 2018 and won by a margin of 2,098 votes. This time, the NPP has nominated him again from the constituency, and he will be competing against Emlang Laloo from the INC, Rimika Sari from the BJP, and Dawan Lyngdoh from the UDP in the 2023 state polls.
