Prestone Tynsong, the Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya and vice president of the National People’s Party (NPP), will be contesting from the Pynursla constituency in the 2023 Assembly polls. He is the sitting MLA for this constituency and has won the seat twice in 2013 and 2018. Tynsong joined the National People’s Party in 2017, after quitting the Indian National Congress. Prior to his election to the Pynursla Assembly constituency in 2013, Prestone Tynsong had served as an MLA for the Lyngkyrdem Assembly constituency for two terms, 2003 and 2008, as a Congress candidate. His opponents this time are — Nehru Suting from the Congress, Rowelly Khongsni from the BJP, Anthony Justine Kongwang from the UPD, and Edmund Khongngai from the TMC.
