Metbah Lyngdoh, the current Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly and President of the United Democratic Party, is a big face and a formidable candidate among those vying for the Mairang constituency. He has previously won the seat in 2008, 2013 and 2018 as a member of the United Democratic Party, and has been nominated by the party once again from the Mairang seat. This time, the fight for the seat will be a three-way battle, with Metbah Lyngdoh up against Batskhem Ryntathiang of the Congress party and Mark Rinaldy Sawkmie of the BJP.
