Woman from NE assaulted in Gujarat, video goes viral

Are women from the Northeast really safe in the rest of the nation? This perhaps seem to be the most important question after a shocking video has gone viral in which a woman from the Northeast being brutally assaulted outside a spa by a man. The incident has been reported from Gujarat capital Ahmedabad.

In the undated video, the man could be clearly seen dragging the victim by her hair, slapping although she made desparate attempts to go away. Though the victim pleaded mercy, but all went in vain and the brutality continued. What was more appalling was that the attacker did not even spare to tear the victim’s clothes.

The entire incident was caught on camera.

The ghastly incident has evoked stern reactions.

Reports said that the accused has been identified as Mohsin, the owner of Galaxy Spa.

As per the complaint given by the victim, police booked the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Report added that, police started suo motu action and convinced the victim woman to file an FIR after counseling. The victim woman stated that she was a partner with Mohsin in the salone and the fight between the two happened over scolding a girl and a loss of Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 5,000. The victim woman was not ready to file a complaint initially. However, the police convinced her to file a complaint through counseling. The woman thanked the police and media for their support.

Tripura Royal Scion and TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarma took to X and condemned the incident in strongest terms. He posted, “This footage is horrible .To see any woman let alone someone from our Northeast region treated like this is outrageous. I hope

takes cognisance and takes action against these men.”

Nagaland Lok Sabha MP S Phangnon Konyak has sought for exemplary action againt the accused. In a post on X, Konyak stated, “Irrespective of the ethnicity, the accused Mohsin should be immediately arrested and given befitting punishment. Violence against anyone is highly condemnable and more so when it’s against women.@AhmedabadPolice”

Another X user said, “Disturbing Video :
The woman was dragged after tearing her clothes.
MOHSIN can be seen beating and dragging a woman by her hair in a video. Mohsin the alleged owner of Galaxy Spa,Ahmedabad is seen physically assaulting a woman. The woman appears to be from northeastern India. She is beaten badly and dragged by hair.”

A X user said, “In Ahmedabad, a spa owner Mohsin brutally beat a woman, his act was recorded in CCTV.. It’s too painful to watch…Do such people deserve to live in our society?

“In Ahmedabad, Mohsin, the owner of a spa, brutally assaulted a woman.
The current state of our society is deeply concerning. This individual’s actions warrant severe consequences. It’s difficult to even view the entire video due to its distressing and disgraceful nature. Those who stood by passively and witnessed the incident should also be held accountable for their inaction” another X user reacted.

The demand for action against the perpetrator is also getting louder. A post on X read, “In Siddhibhavan, Ahmedabad, spa owner assaults employee; police take action after viral CCTV footage.”
