Days after the All Tripura Hotel and Restaurant Owners’ Association (ATHROA) decided to deny hotel and restaurant services’ to Bangladeshi citizens amid growing atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh, now the Greater Siliguri Hoteliers Welfare Association in West Bengal has also imposed an immediate ban on providing hotel accommodations to Bangladeshi citizens across the district until further notice.

The move was taken to prioritize the safety and well-being of all guests and staff given the current sensitive situation.

The ban will be reviewed regularly based on the evolving situation, with plans to reinstate accommodations when conditions are deemed safe and respectful.

The association, a wide network of hotel establishments in Siliguri has also urged all member hotels to maintain consistency and solidarity by abiding by the decision.

Furthermore, if any official directives are issued by the authorities regarding this matter, the association and its members will fully comply.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh continues to see increased violence against Hindu minorties. On the intermitter night of Friday and Saturday, the Laxshmi Narayan Mandir was allegedly burnt. Temple authorities filed a complaint against the same and alleged that the attackers had aimed to harm them.
