Sanghamitra Express halted, major train accident averted after locals spot broken tracks in Andhra Pradesh

Railway officials were alerted by locals near Chirala town

Residents of Ipurupalem in Andhra Pradesh’s Bapatla district helped avert a major train accident by informing railway officials about a few broken tracks in their area, India Today reported.

Some locals near Chirala town noticed some broken railway tracks on Thursday morning and immediately alerted railway officials.

According to sources, railway officials reached the spot without any delay and inspected the tracks.

They stopped the Sanghamitra Express, which was on its way to the spot, for 40 minutes and repaired the track.

The train services were restored soon after.
