A man in Maharashtra’s Pune was arrested on charges of killing his lover’s toddler son by dipping the boy in a bucket of hot water. The police said the accused was in an illicit affair with the woman.
The culprit, identified as Vikram Sharad Kolekar, a resident of Khed, was arrested after an FIR was registered against him based on a complaint filed by the boy’s mother. The police said the accused was in an illicit affair with the woman.
According to a statement issued by police, on the morning of April 6, Vikram Sharad Kolekar went to the woman’s home in Khed, picked up her young son and dipped him in boiling water. The incident took place when the woman had gone out and left the child in the care of the accused.
The baby sustained severe burns all over his body. The infant was admitted to a hospital for treatment on April 6, but died 15 days later.
The woman, who lives separately from her husband, in her complaint stated that Vikram committed the murder as he was unhappy with her refusal to marry him.
As per the police, the accused also threatened to harm the woman and her sister.
The accused is now in police custody and the police are investigating the motive behind the murder.
