President Ram Nath Kovind to attend Bodo Sahitya Sabha’s annual conference
It will be for the first time that the President of India will attend a literary event of any language in the Northeast region.
President Ram Nath Kovind is scheduled to address the concluding session of the 61st annual conference of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) in western Assam’s Tamulpur on May 4.
It will be for the first time that the President of India will attend a literary event of any language in the Northeast region.
Preparations to welcome the President are in full swing and the organisers are prepared to host more than 1 lakh people during the session.
The Bodo Sahitya Sabha has stepped into its 70th year after its formation in 1952. It was inspired by Assam Sahitya Sabha which was formed in 1917 to primarily promote Assamese literature.
About 4,000 delegates are expected to attend the three-day conference from all over the world. There are Bodo language speakers in Bangladesh, Nepal, and West Bengal besides Assam.
