PM Narendra Modi attends Quad Summit in Tokyo
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a rousing welcome from the Indian diaspora upon his arrival in the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi who landed in Tokyo as part of his two-day visit for attending the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue or Quad Summit, is holding meetings with Japanese Business Leaders.
PM Modi respectively held interactions with the Adviser of Suzuki Motor Corporation Osamu Suzuki, Chairman & CEO of UNIQLO Tadashi Yanai and Chairman of NEC Corporation Nobuhiro Endo in Tokyo.
Meanwhile, after his arrival in Tokyo, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a rousing welcome from the Indian diaspora upon his arrival in the country.
Earlier today, upon his arrival in Hotel New Otani where he will be residing, he was welcomed by the Indian diaspora with chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’.
The crowd reverberated ‘Har Har Modi’ and ‘Modi Modi’ chants at the Hotel as they cheered and waved flags on seeing him.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also welcomed by Japanese children present at the hotel with whom he had a special interaction.
Even many Indian children along with their parents were present at the hotel, waving their hands at the Prime Minister’s arrival. Children were seen holding placards with the word ‘Welcome’ written in different languages.
Notably, this strategically significant visit of the Prime Minister is hugely packed as he will have as many as 23 engagements in around 40 hours of his stay in Japan.
Besides the Quad Summit, the visit includes interactions with around 35 major business leaders from Japan. Thereafter, there will be an Indian diaspora community event & the 24th of May is largely devoted to the Quad meeting.
It may be mentioned here that PM Modi will attend the strategic Quad meet alongside US President Joe Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albansese tomorrow.
This summit is seen as a big opportunity for the Quad leaders to exchange views about developments in the Indo-Pacific region and contemporary global issues of mutual interest amidst the ongoing war in Ukraine.
PM Modi will have bilateral talks with US President Joe Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and with the newly appointed Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
