Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientist N. Valarmathi, who lent her voice to the countdown announcement to India’s historic lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3 on July 14, passed away on Saturday following a cardiac arrest.

ISRO director, Dr. PV Venkitakrishnan, sharing the news on X (formerly Twitter), wrote, “The voice of Valarmathi Madam will not be there for the countdowns of future missions of ISRO from Sriharikotta. Chandrayan 3 was her final countdown announcement. An unexpected demise. Feel so sad. Pranams!”
