Jharkhand cable car collision: 2 dead, several stranded in Deoghar

A ropeway collision in Deoghar area of Jharkhand’s Trikut has left two killed and several others injured while 48 others are still trapped mid-air after two of the cable cars crashed with each other.

According to reports, 10 tourists sustained serious injuries and two of them died during the incident which occurred around 4:40 pm on Sunday.

Meanwhile, a team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was sent to the spot for the rescue operation. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) was also assisting in the operation.

It is also reported that a technical snag was the cause behind the accident. The ropeway was being run by a private company and the operators running the system fled the scene shortly after the accident.

According to the Jharkhand Tourism Department, the Tirkut ropeway is India’s highest vertical ropeway with a maximum lens angle of 44 degrees.
