The post has been shared by many social media users. However, the claim made in the viral post is fake and misleading.

Here’s What PIB’s Fact-Check Unit Said

However, the PIB’s fact-check unit found this claim to be FAKE. The Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) on Thursday, April 19, issued a statement refuting the claims. “Important announcement from #IndianOil. It is perfectly safe to fill fuel in vehicles up to the limit(max) as specified by the manufacturer irrespective of winter or summer,” IOCL’s tweet read. The company made the same announcement in a Facebook post on the same day.

IOCL Issues Statement On FAKE News

CLAIM: IOCL has issued a warning and asked you not to fill the petrol in your vehicle to the maximum limit

FACT: The news is FAKE and misleading. It is perfectly safe to fill fuel in vehicles up to the limit(max) specified by the manufacturer.
