IIT-Bombay Graduate sets record with Rs 3.7 Crore International Job Offer; engg firms top recruiters

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-Bombay) bagged the institute’s highest international job offer of Rs 3.7 crore per year, while another student from the institute was placed within the country at a package of 1.7 crore, in its recently concluded annual placement drive.
With this, there’s a substantial growth as compared to last year’s international offer of Rs. 2.1 crore, while the domestic offer for the previous year was marginally higher at Rs 1.8 crore yearly.
As per the institute’s official release, sixteen job offers with annual salaries exceeding Rs 1 crore were accepted by IIT-Bombay students. They also accepted 194 of the 300 pre-placement offers.
A total of 2,174 students registered for the campus placement drive from July 2022 to June 2023, out of which 1,845 actively participated in the placements, which is the highest number to date.
This year, IIT-Bombay received 65 overseas job offers from organisations with offices in the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
However, this year the international offers were fewer as compared to last year.
The engineering and technology department sector witnessed the highest number of placements, with 458 of them securing entry-level positions across 97 key engineering companies.
However, the information technology and software sector saw a dip as compared to last year. A total of 302 students got job offers from over 88 companies in the IT/software sector.
Nearly 90 per cent of students from BTech, dual-degree, and MTech programmes secured jobs.
However, PhD recruitment experienced lower success, with only 31% of candidates finding employment.
Every year, IIT Bombay conducts placement drive in two phases, the first in December and the second between January and June/July.
