Gwalior woman asks for jailed husband’s release to have a kid

A woman, whose husband has been lodged at the Gwalior Central jail for the past seven years, has filed for his parole. In the application, the woman mentioned she wants a kid and hence wanted her husband out on parole, India Today reported.

The family, which hails from Shivpuri, has approached the Gwalior jail authorities, saying the man, identified as Dara Singh Jatav, was jailed in connection with a murder case, soon after his marriage.

According to the prisoner’s father, Kareem Singh Jatav, his family could not even celebrate the wedding festivities, when the police arrested his son.

Kareem Singh Jatav further stated he and his ailing wife wanted a grandson, for which they want their son out of jail for some days.

The plea letter for the prisoner’s release was sent to Shivpuri SP for consideration.

Meanwhile, commenting on the matter, Gwalior Central Jail superintendent, Vidit Sirvaiya, said any prisoner serving a life-term is entitled to parole upon completion of two years if his behaviour with inmates and jail authorities is reported ‘good’.

Further, Sirvaiya said the final decision to grant or not grant parole lays with the district collector.
