A case has been filed against a Sahitya Akademi award-winning writer in Delhi after a 32-year-old woman accused him of raping her for ten years under the guise of marriage, police said today.
The FIR was filed at Timarpur Police Station in Delhi after a woman from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, filed the complaint.
The woman in her complaint said that she has been living in Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi, for the past ten years and is studying for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination.
According to the FIR, she met the Sahitya Akademi award-winning writer on a social media platform roughly ten years ago and became friends with him.
She then detailed an incident in which he reportedly assaulted and beat her following her eye surgery.
The FIR stated that she went for an eye treatment at the All India Institute Of Medical Science (AIIMS) and was late returning home, for which he abused her and beat her up.
” I started crying but he raped me. The next day, he came and started apologising. He also promised to marry me,” the FIR further added.
He kept pledging to marry her to avoid police action, the woman alleged, but she discovered last year through his phone that the accused had affairs with several other girls to whom he had also promised marriage.
The FIR also stated that a police officer called the woman’s father and informed him that she (the woman) is blackmailing the writer in order to extort money.
