Former chairman of Tata Sons, Cyrus Mistry died in a road accident near Mumbai today.
Mistry was travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in a Mercedes car.
The accident occurred at around 3.15 p.m. in the Charoti area of Palghar, 135 kilometres from Mumbai when his car hit a road divider.
Mistry died on the spot, while the other two persons in his car including the driver sustained injuries.
Mistry’s body has been sent to the Kasa Rural Hospital in Gujarat for a post-mortem examination.
The injured have been taken to a hospital.

According to a Kasa police station officer, the accident took place at Charoti Naka on the Surya river bridge, which is under the Kasa police station limits.
N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, expressed condolences and prayers to the Mistry family.
Mistry left behind his wife and two children.
Cyrus took over as chairman of Tata Sons in 2012, succeeding Ratan Tata. However, four years later, he was removed from his post in October 2016.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
