Ceasefire talks between Russian and Ukrainian officials ended on Monday along the Belarusian border with no significant breakthrough.

As per reports, representatives of the two nations will return to their respective capitals for further consultations before the second round of talks which would be held in the next two days.

The next round of negotiations will reportedly be held on the Polish-Belarusian border.

The talks began at the border town of Gomel between the delegations of the two countries even as the heavy firing continued in cities and suburbs of Ukraine.

The talks came to an end around the same time when it was reported Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy had signed an official request for his country’s membership in the European Union.

Zelenskiy had asked the European Union to grant Ukraine immediate membership under a special procedure while the country defends itself against Russian forces.

Meanwhile, speculations are also rife that the Russian forces will soon launch an air rade at the Ukrainian capital Kyiv.

Reports also claim that a large convoy of Russian forces is already heading towards Kyiv. The visuals were in fact caught on satellite images.

It may be mentioned here that after a United Nations appeal, India will be sending medicines and other essential items to war-torn Ukraine.
