A 10-month-old baby girl died after her father mistakenly left her in the car for 7 hours in 26°C heat in Portugal. The incident happened on September 12.
As per reports, the child’s father, a lecturer at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology NOVA University drove the car to within 100 meters of the campus creche. Before leaving for work, he was supposed to leave his daughter off at the nursery. However, he walked directly to his office instead of taking his daughter inside as usual. When he returned to his car after 7 hours, the lecturer found his daughter unconscious in the back seat of his car, reported a Portuguese daily newspaper.
He did everything to revive her, but the child was unresponsive. Emergency services were called, who tried to resuscitate her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Notably, the weather in the area on Tuesday was around 26°C, which means that the temperature inside the automobile could have easily surpassed 50°C.
Investigators believe that the baby girl was asleep and her father simply forgot she was in the car. Autopsy results are yet to be made public.
