Five people, including three children, were found dead in a shooting in the northern Ontario city in Canada on Monday, CBC News reported.
CBC News is a division of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation responsible for the news gathering and production of news programs.
Sault Ste. Marie Police said they were further investigating the crime scene, wherein, these people were found dead at two homes.
Police said they responded to a 911 call at 10.20 pm (local time) and found a 41-year-old dead of a gunshot wound at the 200 block of Tancred Street, according to CBC News.
About ten minutes later, the police officers responded to the second call, finding a 45-year-old with a gunshot wound.
The investigators said they also recovered the bodies of a six-year-old and a 12-year-old, who, they claimed, were also shot and killed.
Further, the officers informed that they also found a 44-year-old dead, from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot, CBC News reported.
The police added that both these deaths were connected and were the result of intimate partner violence.
“Our community is once again faced with the tragic and unnecessary loss of life,” Sault Ste. Marie police Chief Hugh Stevenson said in a release.
“The grief the families, friends and loved ones of the victims are facing is unimaginable. Our hearts go out to them. As our community grieves this tragedy, I urge everyone to please watch out for each other. If you are struggling, or if you see someone you know struggling, please make use of the mental health supports available in our community,” he added.
