Popular Assam singer Angarag Papon Mahanta, popularly known as Papon is celebrating his 47th birthday today.

Wishes from fans and well-wishers are pouring in for the singer who has belted out several hit numbers both in Assamese and Hindi and is also popular as an Assamese folk singer.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wished good health and long life for the singer born to a family of well-known singers, eminent lyricists and music composers.

Founder of the folk-fusion band Papon and The East India Company, Papon has been wooing audiences for the last two decades with his soulful music.

His parents Khagen and Archana Mahanta were very popular and much-loved singers of Assam. His paternal uncle Kesab Mahanta was an eminent songwriter and composer.
Papon’s cousin sister Monojyotsna Mahanta is a singer too.

Several music companies have wished the ‘Moh Moh Dhage’ singer on his birthday.

“A singer with a magical voice! Happy Birthday @paponmusic,” writes Yash Raj Films on Twitter.

“Wishing the voice of a billion hearts, @paponmusic a very happy birthday,” twitted Times Music. They also shared a link to some songs of the singer with one of his image.

Some of his popular numbers from a long list of hits include – Kyon from the film Barfi, Moh Moh ke Dhage from the film Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bulleya from Sultan and Chaav Laaga from the movie Sui Dhaaga – Made in India.
