Good bye Dumbledore. Harry Potter actor Michael Gambon passes away at 82

The Harry Potter fans lost a piece of their childhood as Harry Potter actor Michael Gambon, popularly known for his role as professor Albus Dumbledore, passed away at 82 on Thursday.

The veteran British-Irish actor who portrayed the role of Professor Albus Dumbledore in six of the eight ‘Harry Potter’ films died after suffering from pneumonia, his publicist said on Thursday.

A statement by his family, issued by his publicist, said he died following “a bout of pneumonia.”
“We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon. Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside,” his family said.

Gambon had received four television BAFTAs and an Olivier Award during the course of his decades-long acting career in television, film, radio, and theatre.

Out of all his characters, Gambon’s portrayal as the headmaster of the wizarding school ‘Hogwarts’ in the ‘Harry Potter series ‘was the highlight of this career. He received love for his character from all age groups.

The Irish-born actor Alan Gambon made his stage debut in a 1962 performance of “Othello” at the Gates Theatre in Dublin, where he launched his long playing career.
