Spanning over a three-decade career, he has directed only eight movies. Most of them are mega hits. Sooraj R. Barjatya, popularly known as Sooraj Barjatya can be called the family man of hindi movies. Love, friendship and most importantly familial ties play pivotal roles in his films. Time changed. Generations changed. But Sooraj has stuck to his belief. Though he has broken the genre in his last offering, ‘Uunchai’, Sooraj’s idea of the family hood is unique. As the director turns 59 years old today, let’s wish him a happy birthday with his most successful movies of all time.

Maine Pyar Kiya

Sooraj considers Salman Khan as his mascot. The beautiful bond between the director and actor started with this movie, in which, Salman established himself as the iconic ‘Prem’ of the silver screen. The chemistry between Salman and Bhagyashree made it one of the classics of the Hindi industry.

Hum Aapke Hain Koun…!

Sooraj’s movies are also known for their evergreen melodies. Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Lata Mangeshkar, and S.P. Balasubrahmanyam combined made this movie a box-office success.

Hum Saath Saath Hain

Brothers, brotherhood, and family… The eternal theme of Rajshri productions never found a stronger voice than this movie. The multi-starer movie of the 90s is still relevant to the cultural ethos of India.

Vivah

Some find it bizarre, some find it true love…This love story again has an undercurrent of familial ties. Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao reprised their screen romance one more time and made it a memorable one.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

This movie is not as successful as compared to the previous ones by Sooraj. But Sooraj can’t think of anyone else as ‘Prem’ apart from Salman Khan. But with changing times, the audience did not show much love to this one.
