Manipur: 100 students to miss their HSLC exams due to school’s negligence

Nearly 100 students from as many as 19 schools in Manipur will miss their High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination, 2023 scheduled to begin tomorrow (March 16) as they did not receive admit cards due to the negligence and irresponsibility on the part of the school staff.

As per inputs, the staff of the respective schools allegedly failed to submit the exam forms of the students on time. The examination forms were to be submitted online by respective staff and school heads.
The examinations which will be conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) will begin tomorrow in 158 examination centres across the state.
Highly informed sources told Northeast Live that the students whose future now lies in limbo, include 37 students of RM Residential English School, Chirai (Pvt), 18 students of Chingai High School (Govt), 16 students of Paocham High School (Govt), 3 each of Malom Megha High School, Malom (Govt), T. Vaichong High School, Kangpokpi (Govt), SK Ideal High School, Ngairangbam (Govt), Ideal High School, Pallel (Pvt), two students of Gandhi Memorial High School, Churachandpur (Govt) and one each of Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School (Pvt), Thiyam Leishangkhong Government High School, Bethel English School, Nambol (Pvt), MA Waheb Islamic Public School (Pvt), Lilong, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Churachandpur, Sharon English High School (Pvt), Ningthoukhong Higher Secondary School, Ningthoukhong (Govt), Model English Higher Secondary School, Saikul (Govt), Dawn Public High School, Yumnam Huidrom (Pvt), Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Punanamei (Pvt) and Bishnulal High School, Chahajare (Govt).
These schools include 10 government schools and nine private ones.
According to a notification issued by BOSEM on December 13 last year, the last date for form submission with a late fine was January 31, 2023.
However, later the same was extended till February 7 and was further extended till February 10 with subsequent notifications issued by the board.
Meanwhile, all these schools have cited different reasons for the failure to submit the forms.
According to sources, the education (S) department has initiated action against any negligent employees and department heads in this regard.

A total of 38,127 students are set to appear in the HSLC Examination, 2023 in the state.
