Currently there are 8 active cases in Assam. Among the total 36 patients, one man from Hailakandi district died on April 10.
This is the first COVID-19 case from Bongaigaon district. Though neighbouring Goalpara and Dhubri districts reported COVID-19 cases and both the districts were declared as red zone, Bongaigaon district remained unaffected by Coronavirus.
Till now, 27 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from different hospitals in Assam after they had completely recovered from the disease.
On the other hand, the state government has allowed opening of shops in rural areas under non-red zones from today. The government allowed opening of standalone rural shops barring haat and marketplaces.
Meanwhile, restrictions in red zone districts are still in place. Similarly no rural shops have been allowed within 5 KM from the boundary of red zone districts. The five red zone districts in Assam are Dhubri, Goalpara, Nalbari, Morigaon and Golaghat.
