Actor Priyanka Chopra recently gave fans a glimpse of her Karwa Chauth celebrations for 2024. Taking to Instagram, Priyanka shared a series of pictures showcasing how she and her husband, singer Nick Jonas, celebrated the festival in London.
In the first picture, Priyanka is seen sipping water from a glass held by Nick, while she holds her pooja thaali. Nick also holds a thaali, as they participate in a video call with Priyanka’s mother, Madhu Chopra. Another image shows Priyanka sitting on a couch, smiling as she reads a note that bears Nick’s name. It seems like a simple, yet heartfelt celebration for the couple.
One of the standout moments was Priyanka revealing her mehendi design, which featured Nick’s birthday and the number ‘3’, along with a heart. The selfie clicked by Priyanka also includes Nick, adding a sweet personal touch to the celebration. To make it even more special, Priyanka set the background music of her Instagram post to the iconic song Chand Chupa Badal Mein.
In a more casual take on the traditional celebration, Priyanka wore a maroon tracksuit, paired with a red dupatta, traditional earrings, bangles, and sindoor, giving a modern twist to her Karwa Chauth attire. Sharing the post, Priyanka captioned it: “To all those celebrating.. happy Karwa Chauth,” along with emojis and the note that “I’m filmy,” indicating her love for Bollywood.
Priyanka and Nick tied the knot in a grand wedding that combined Christian and Hindu ceremonies in Jodhpur’s Umaid Bhawan Palace in December 2018. In January 2022, they announced the birth of their daughter, Malti Marie, via surrogacy.
Currently, Priyanka is busy filming the second season of Citadel, a spy-thriller series from the Russo Brothers. She is also set to star in Heads of State, alongside John Cena and Idris Elba, and will appear in The Bluff, a film set in the 19th-century Caribbean, where she plays a former pirate protecting her family from her past.
Karwa Chauth is a festival celebrated mainly by Hindu married women, who fast for the long and healthy lives of their husbands. Traditionally, the fast is broken after sighting the moon, a significant symbol of the festival.
