Music maestro AR Rahman has filed a defamation case against the Association of Surgeons of India and demanded a sum of Rs 10 crore as compensation for trying to defame him. If the association does not pay the compensation, the musician will take legal and criminal action, his legal counsel said.
The Association of Surgeons of India had registered a complaint against AR Rahman claiming that he did not perform at a concert despite taking a payment of Rs. 20 lakhs in 2018.
AR Rahman’s counsel has denied all the allegations and sent a legal notice to the Association of Surgeons of India asking them to withdraw the complaint against him within 3 days.
AR Rahman refuted the allegations against him and said that there were third parties involved about which he was not aware.
In the legal notice, the musician’s team demanded an unconditional apology from the association for damaging AR Rahman’s reputation.
AR Rahman hit the headlines in September as well after his Chennai concert was slammed for mismanagement.
Rahman performed at a concert titled ‘Marakuma Nenjam’ at Adityaram Palace in Chennai’s Paniyur. However, he failed to win the audience’s hearts.
