In a major breakthrough, an organised racket involved in forging and distributing PAN cards across India has been exposed in Assam’s Thakuranbari under Mankachar Police Station.
A police team conducted a raid at the residence of Zamir Hussain, son of Abdul Baten. The raid led to the seizure of crucial evidence, including 20 fake PAN cards in sealed covers, approximately 250 PAN application forms with forged voter IDs and Annexure-A certificates bearing a fake seal of I/c Supdt. & Secretary, JK Arabic College, Jordanga.
Additionally, police recovered a fake official seal, a stamp pad used for forgery, a laptop, a printer, photoprint papers, and a register containing applicant details and signatures. A key piece of evidence was an envelope addressed to Gobin Yadav in Chennai, sent from Ayan Mobile Shop, Thakuranbari, containing a forged PAN card.
During interrogation, Zamir Hussain confessed to working with Sajidul Islam, the owner of Ayan Mobile Shop, in creating and distributing counterfeit PAN cards nationwide. While Hussain has been arrested, Islam remains absconding, and efforts are underway to track him down.
An FIR is being registered, and authorities suspect a larger network behind the operation. Further investigation is underway.
