The 4th Meghalaya Games 2022 has hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Even before the games could get rolling, images of deplorable accommodation facilities for athletes went viral on social media forcing Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to personally inspect the venue and take stock of the situation.

Photos of stinky, dirty toilets, lack of bathrooms and entire contingents being allegedly packed into one room have gone viral on social media. The pictures are drawing sharp reactions from all sections.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had also expressed his displeasure and said it was unacceptable. He had also asked the officials to immediately take action and rectify.

Meanwhile, General Secretary of MSOA Finely Pariat clarified that the pictures shared were taken of a toilet that was adjacent but not put in use. He said the athletes were Later accommodated in better rooms.
