Tripura government’s zero tolerance on drugs: Contraband worth over Rs 2 cr destroyed

In it's mission to curb drug menace in Tripura, the state government is leaving no stone unturned to accomplish the task.

The Tripura government has intensified the crackdown on drugs. On the occasion of Drugs Disposal day the Tripura Police destroyed contraband worth over Rs 2 crore at Bodhjungnagar seized in the recent past.

To mark the Drugs Disposal Day the Tripura State Level Drug Disposal Committee headed by Dy IGP (Southern Range) in presence of Superintendent of Police (SP) Crime Branch and SP State Crime Record Bureau is destroying huge quantity of drug at Bodhjungnagar in Sepahijala district which was seized in the recent past.

The drugs consignment includes marijuana, heroin, brown sugar, and other psychotropic substances seized by the police besides the Anti Narcotics unit and other security forces.

As per inputs, 3990 Kgs marijuana, 9416 bottles of banned cough syrup and 33525 Yaba tablets were destroyed.

According to available data, since January 1, 2021 to August 31, 2022 the total quantity of marijuana seized is 99, 620 Kg along with 3,38,403 bottles of cough syrup, 15,76,580 tablets and 8535 grams of heroin.
