Watch: Tripura YouTuber thrashed, humiliated for casting Hindu models in Eid music video

Bapan Nandi, a YouTuber from Tripura’s Udaipur was allegedly thrashed and humiliated by a group of people for using Hindu girls to portray Muslim characters in his Eid music video released last Saturday, April 22.

In a separate video doing the rounds on social media, a group of people can be seen interrogating Bapan Nandi as to why he had cast Hindu girls to portray Muslim characters in his music video. In the video a woman can be seen heckling him and telling him, “You are a Hindu, you should be hating Muslims, not wishing them.”

Watch the video here:

Nandi, however, stated that he was not the producer of the music video and that he had acted as an artist, much like a number of other Udaipur-based models and other content producers. The Hindu girls too, who acted in the music video, clarified that they acted on their own will and that acting is their job.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad has filed a case against Nandi for defaming the Hindu community. Police summoned him on Wednesday in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, the YouTube community in Tripura has come out in defense of Bapan Nandi, with many content creators condemning the act.
