Tripura : Workshop on ‘Women’s Safety and Empowerment’ organised in Agartala

The Social Welfare and Social Education Department of Tripura on Friday organised a state level workshop in the Pragna Bhavan of capital Agartala titled “Creating Enabling Ecosystem for Women’s Safety
The Social Welfare and Social Education Department of Tripura on Friday organised a state level workshop in the Pragna Bhavan of capital Agartala titled “Creating Enabling Ecosystem for Women’s Safety and Empowerment”.
It may be mentioned that Tripura hit the headlines for a dozen rape incidents over the period of the past 15 days.
The workshop’s main goal was to discuss various topics related to the rise in crime against women in today’s society and to come up with strategies for holistic and comprehensive development towards a safe environment for women and their socioeconomic development.
The workshop was attended by a large number of school and college students from different educational institutions.

Antara Sarkar Deb, Sabhadipati Paschim Tripura Zilla Parishad was the chief guest of the workshop.
Ashmita Banik, vice chairperson of the Tripura Commission for Women spoke on challenges of women safety in the changing scenario and role of Tripura Commission for Women.
Meanwhile, Smita Mol, director Social Welfare and Social Education department, Tripura informed that state specific issues and challenges with respect to women safety and their socioeconomic empowerment were discussed beside the achievements and future plans which were deliberated during discussions were noted and worked out as it will be presented during the coming 2nd national conference of Chief Secretaries with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
